The message below is has been forwarded to CPLA executive board from the state PBPA. The message is from Officer Dusty Kubis with the Galesburg Police Department. Any support you could give this fellow brother during this tragic time would be much appreciated
We have an officer whose wife(current dispatcher) is currently fighting for her life after giving birth to their second child. I had one of our officers assisting Officer Small write a brief paragraph describing the situation. I am also enclosing a link for their gofundme page. If this could be passed along to the membership that would be greatly appreciated! I have spoken with Dan about it as well. I just couldn’t find his email address. Here is the information:
Abby Small, a Knox County Dispatcher and wife of Galesburg Police Officer Kyle Small, suffered complications as a result of child birth on Saturday, January 25th, 2025. Kyle, who is also an infantry Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard, arrived home on emergency leave only days prior from his deployment to Africa. As a result of birthing complications, Abby suffered cardiac arrest several times resulting in the loss of oxygen to her body for a significant time period. Abby was flown to a different hospital for advanced care where she currently remains and is in stable but critical condition. Their newborn baby daughter is healthy and home with relatives. Abby and Kyle additionally have a two year old daughter as well.
In the long term, the family is going to be needing any and all support needed to overcome the financial burden associated with Abby’s care, transportation, daycare, food, and other expenses.
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
