Colette M. McGuire (née Eggleston), passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the age of 88. Colette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years John “Jack” McGuire, her parents George and Angela Eggleston, her brother Ronnie (Angela) Eggleston, and sisters Angela (Joe) Murdock, and Joyce (Paddy) McDonagh. Colette is survived by her two sons Terry(retired CPD Lt.) (Candy) McGuire and Danny (Sheri) McGuire; her beloved grandchildren Jane, Tommy, and Margaret; and numerous loved nieces and nephews in the U.S.A. and Ireland, especially her nieces Jean, Mary and Jillian with whom she lived when she first arrived in Chicago.

Colette was born and raised in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. She immigrated to Chicago in 1964 where she worked as an executive secretary for the Hilton Corporation and John M. Smyth Furniture. As the story goes, Colette met Jack one fateful evening at a poker game in which she brought him great luck, and the rest is history. The two were longtime residents of Chicago and it’s south suburbs before retiring to Hernando, Florida. Colette enjoyed a life filled with the things she loved most: socializing with friends and family, her beloved pets, practicing her Catholic faith, tea and shortbread cookies, a glass of wine, playing the slots, Maeve Binchy novels, and above all bragging about her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to her niece Jillian and to the compassionate staff at both Smith Senior Living locations for the wonderful care they provided Colette during her final years. The family takes great comfort in knowing that Colette has been reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Jack, and with dear friends and family members who went before her. May God hold her in the palm of His hands until we meet again. Arrangements by Inclusive Funeral Care, 773-318-1305 or www.InclusiveFuneralCare.com.
