The three PBPA unions have agreed to the following regarding the grievances for the summer holiday settlement agreement violations:
1. The City agrees to cancel only one (1) RDO for the Labor Day holiday.
2. The City agrees to schedule personnel no earlier than 9 hours after a cancelled RDO.
3. This agreement covers the Juneteenth/Father’s Day holiday and the Fourth of July holiday.
4. The City will compensate those members subject to the settlement agreement (does not include those members who volunteered or are on 4th/5th watches) 1 comp day for each day worked in excess of 10 days (so 11 or more). This means 1 comp day for the 11th day worked, 1 comp day for the 12th day, etc. The Department will be doing an audit of all time cards to determine those affected. The Department will provide a list to the unions of all affected personnel and the number of days the members is eligible to receive the 8 hours of comp time. The Department has said they will do this in a reasonable time. The comp day given as a result of this settlement will be given preference over other forms of time off.
5. The arbitrator will retain jurisdiction for any issues involving this agreement.
6. This Summer Holiday Settlement Agreement created the pilot program for the 4 summer holidays in 2022 (Memorial Day, Juneteenth/Father’s Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day). The pilot program expires after Labor Day, 2022.
