The union has been made aware by a couple of our members who are members of the City of Chicago Blue Cross Choice OPT PPO plan that they did not receive a letter & informational brochure that was mailed to these members. This would include all active Lt.’s and Lt.’s who retired under the 55+ & 60+ provisions in regards to health care and have the PPO plan.

This mailing informed these members of an additional step they must take before they undergo certain surgeries. After May 1, 2017 they must contact Best Doctors by phone , at 866-904-0910, and obtain a mandatory second opinion before proceeding with the surgery. If you do not have Best Doctors review your case, the plan will not pay for any expenses related to the surgery.
